Last weekend Dave, Mick and I went to Radium BC for the weekend. It was a nice little getaway where we got to experience the hotsprings.
I had never been to a hotspring before, so this was a nice first experience. The hotspring is located in Kootenay National Park, and has been made into a giant swimming pool like tub. It’s cool because on one side is the indoor facility (which is a great modern building built in the early 1950s) and on the other is the mountain face.
It wasn’t as hot as I thought it would be, it was very pleasant. I could definitely stay it it longer than a jacuzzi or hot tub. It felt so nice to be submerged in the warm water. My joints loved it like a big warm hug.
While we were there, it was raining the entire time, but that didn’t stop us from going in, and it didn’t stop other people. I was quite surprised at how busy it was, even at 9pm, it was still quite busy.
On Saturday night, we saw about 30 of them run full speed down the road/highway. It was a sight to see! They were heading on down the highway like they were late to a meeting.
The sky cleared right for us to leave. I managed to take this picture just before we departed. Such a beautiful place.
I hope we can get back to Radium or another hotspring location this winter. It was such a lovely break, and was quite affordable for a weekend away.
